J has over ten years of experience in family and criminal law and works
primarily with Attorney Kimberly Washington, and also provides support
to the other members of the firm. He is an active member of the State
Bar of Texas’ Paralegal Division as well as an active member of
Texas Defense Lawyer’s Association.
J attended the University of Houston-Downtown’s Criminal Justice
Law Enforcement Academy were he received his Police Officer’s certification.
He is a former police officer and has intensive training in family violence,
child abuse, DWIs’ and has immense investigative skills.
J uses his considerable multitasking skills and investigative experience
to help families in transition by providing detailed support to counsel
and her clients. From complex litigation cases to simple uncontested divorces,
he is involved from beginning to end. J is an experienced family law paralegal
focused on the unique needs of the firms clients who are facing life-changing
legal matters surrounding divorce – including child custody, possession
and support, complex marital property division, pre- and post-marital
agreements, paternity, and LGBTQ issues.
J assists clients by providing regular contact and updates, managing the
discovery process, maintaining the case calendar and deadlines, and drafting
pleadings and correspondence. He also maintains all document production
and the client case file, and is integral in preparing for mediations,
late case evaluations, hearings and trials. A true native Houstian, J
enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and
especially spending time in his local community where he lives with his spouse.
