Educational Opportunities In Humble

The public school system for Humble is Humble Independent School District. HISD was created over 100 years ago and has served multiple areas of northeast Houston ever since. Humble, Kingwood and Atascocita are the major communities served by HISD. With multiple high schools, exceptional middle schools, and an ever-growing list of elementary schools HISD boasts a wide range of school environments for you and your child to be able to become a part of if you are moving to this area. 45 total campuses educate 48,000 students each day. The district anticipates further growth in the coming years and is in the process of renovating each of the high schools in HISD.

Lone Star College is the main community college which serves Harris County and surrounding areas. Humble is directly in the middle of two campuses for Lone Star College as both Kingwood and Atascocita can boast campuses right in their own backyards. While the realities of obtaining a college education may be shifting in recent years there is still no doubt that working towards a college degree is something to be aspired to. Lone Star College is well regarded for its two-year degree programs. However, Lone Star now offers three bachelor’s degrees in Nursing, Applied Technology in Cybersecurity and Applied Science in Energy, Manufacturing and Trades Management.

For those seeking a more traditional college experience, Humble is well positioned for you or your children (or both of you!) to earn a four-year degree in the Houston area. Rice University, The University of Houston, St. Thomas University, Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University are all within a quick drive of Humble. Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin Universities are not located in Houston but are approximately one hour north of Humble.
