Carrie is a native Texan (having been born in Wichita Falls), and almost-native Houstonian, moving to Houston the summer before she began kindergarten. Carrie received her undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin, then started graduate school while working full-time. She ultimately received her master’s degree in accounting, passed the CPA exam, went into public accounting and then the oil and gas industry. It was there that she finally decided to pursue her long-time dream to be a lawyer. Carrie worked full-time and attended South Texas College of Law at night, graduating 4 years later. During Carrie’s last year of law school, she worked in the domestic violence unit of the Harris County District Attorney’s office getting protective orders in the family courts. It was there that her passion for helping families was forged. Carrie has now been practicing family law for 26 years and divides her time between custody and child-related issues and complex property matters. Her business background helps immensely with property and business matters. Carrie is very passionate about helping and protecting the “family unit” and works especially hard to facilitate settlement of family disputes, with the goal of preserving a co-parenting relationship whenever possible. Carrie is a member of the Family Law and the LGBT Law sections of the State Bar of Texas. When Carrie is not at the office, she enjoys time with her wife and their three dogs!
