Patrice Horton concentrates her family law practice in complicated divorce and child custody cases. She joined Bryan Fagan, PLLC in 2018 and works with parents, spouses, and grandparents throughout Texas to craft unique solutions to the most challenging and complex of family concerns. Her primary duties include litigating family law cases from inception to final order, including divorces, enforcement suits, modification suits, original suits affecting the parent-child relationship, and Child Protective Services matters.
For nearly a decade, Patrice has worked with families during what is often the most emotional and frustrating time in their lives. She takes pride in being transparent with her clients, identifying the facts of their legal situation, and providing honest advice and counsel. Her experience includes running her law practice for five years and serving as a Contracts Administrator at a leading technology and security provider company, where she managed commercial contracts.
A graduate of Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University, Patrice earned honors in law school, was featured on the Dean’s List for multiple semesters, and served as the Managing Editor of Thurgood Marshall Law Review. She won the CALI Excellence for the Future Award three times, which is reserved for the highest-scoring student in each law school class from nearly 130 universities across the country.
Education has remained an essential part of Patrice’s practice. She served for five years as an adjunct professor at American Intercontinental University, teaching the next generation of lawyers the basics of constitutional law and criminal procedure.
While earning her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, Patrice was a reporter for The Dallas Weekly, a 60-year-old leading multimedia brand serving as the voice of the African American community in North Texas. Today, she is a member of Houston Family Law Group, an organization of robust African-American female attorneys offering mentorship, encouragement, and guidance on current legal issues, inclusivity, and law firm management.
When she’s not meeting clients’ needs, Patrice enjoys running, reading, and spending time with her husband and puppy.
