Educational Resources in Sugar Land

Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (Lamar CISD) serves Sugar Land and greater Ft. Bend County. They cite community involvement as being the key to the success experienced by the district. Building new campuses as the community grows and supporting students across their activities are two of the hallmarks of Lamar CISD. The district aims to put students first with smaller enrollments and lower student to teacher ratios than many comparable school districts in southeast Texas.

Another terrific resource for families in Sugar Land is Wharton County Junior College. This two year and vocationally focused center for academics offers an alternative for students who want to further themselves as far as their career is concerned but are not interested in the cost or time commitments associated with a traditional four-year college or university. WCJC has campuses in Wharton, Richmond, Sugar Land and Bay City. These are convenient to access locations for you and your family if you work in one part of Ft. Bend County and live in Sugar Land, or vice versa.

Finally, Sugar Land is close to many competitive four-year colleges and universities beginning with the University of Houston- Sugar Land campus. Rather than driving into the city of Houston for class and then having to drive back home each day, why not take classes at the campus closest to your home? In Houston itself are well established universities like Houston Baptist University, Rice University, Texas Southern University, and the University of St. Thomas. Whether it is you or your child who wants to start or complete a college degree, there are few places with such great options around you as a resident of Sugar Land has to offer. Information about registration, applications and financial aid can be found on the website for each college or university.
