Moving to Upper Kirby

Upper Kirby has positioned itself as one of the most desirable neighborhoods in all of Houston. It is in southwest Houston inside the 610 Loop. The dimensions of the neighborhood are bordered by Westheimer to the north, Kirby Drive to the west, Bissonnet St. to the south and the Southern Pacific railroad tracks to the east.

The main neighborhoods within Upper Kirby are Greenway Plaza, The Upper Kirby District, and Highland Village. Greenway Plaza is a mixed-use development with both residential and commercial real estate within its borders. Much of Greenway Plaza lines up along the Southwest Freeway and is home to some of the most well-known businesses in the city of Houston. The office buildings in Greenway Plaza are connected by bridges, tunnels, and walkways.

Upper Kirby is a residential area with some of the most valuable and affluent real estate for homeowners in the city of Houston. The commercial and business portions of the Upper Kirby District have taken off in value and usage in the past generation are now home to some of the most upscale shopping venues and restaurants in the city of Houston.

The homes in Upper Kirby were primarily built in the 1940s and 1950s. These were ranch homes that took advantage of being built near downtown and other large commercial developments of the time. What we have seen in this area is that the homes have maintained their beauty and charm even as some of the homes are being demolished in favor of larger homes being built on the same property.

Upper Kirby is an area that is both capable of transformation and has a strong history that reinforces its present. Whether you are drawn to this area due to its location, tree-lined streets, classic homes or the nightlife, Upper Kirby has plenty to offer both you and your family.
