Tarrant County Family Law Center Overview
The Tarrant County Family Law Center is the primary courthouse for family law cases in Fort Worth and across Tarrant County. Unlike general civil courthouses, this building is dedicated entirely to family-related matters, making it a centralized location for divorce, custody, and child support proceedings.
Location & Parking
The courthouse is located in downtown Fort Worth near other Tarrant County court buildings. Parking is available nearby, but Tarrant County states there is no free parking at the Family Law Center. The county identifies the Calhoun Street Parking Garage, located at Weatherford and Calhoun, as the most convenient parking option.
Because downtown parking can take time, visitors should arrive early and allow extra time to park, walk to the building, and pass through security.
Security & Entry
Visitors should expect courthouse security screening before entering. This may include metal detectors, bag inspections, and directions from security staff.
To make entry smoother:
- Bring only necessary items
- Have a valid ID available
- Avoid weapons, sharp objects, and prohibited items
- Follow all instructions from courthouse personnel
All visitors must enter through designated public entry points and pass security before going to courtrooms or clerk offices.
Filing Documents
Family law filings are handled through the Tarrant County District Clerk’s Family Law Division. The District Clerk lists the Family Law Center office at 200 E. Weatherford, 3rd Floor, Fort Worth, TX 76196.
Documents may typically be submitted through:
- eFileTexas: Commonly used for family law filings
- In person: At the District Clerk’s Family Law Division
- By mail: For eligible filings or record requests

Courtroom Procedures & Etiquette
Family court proceedings are formal, even when the issues are personal or emotional. Visitors should:
- Arrive at least 30–45 minutes early
- Dress respectfully
- Silence phones before entering the courtroom
- Bring your case number, court notice, and valid ID
- Follow instructions from the judge, bailiff, and court staff
