I have wanted to be a lawyer since I was a little kid and saw the film version of John Grisham’s, The Pelican Brief. I had no idea I would be representing families across the state of Texas in difficult and emotional divorces.
I was raised in Atascocita, Texas, a small suburb Northeast of Houston. I am one of four children – two natural-born children and two brothers who were adopted.
My dad was an engineer and my mom was a teacher. I am the only lawyer in my family. I attended the South Texas College of Law. During law school, I took a job at a boutique family law litigation firm, where I would spend the first four years of my career. It was there I learned I had a passion for family law.
During college, I chose to finish up my degree online because that allowed me to take care of my grandmother who had Alzheimer’s. Later, I would make a similar choice to go to South Texas College of Law because they had a night study program which allowed me to take care of her during the day until another family member could take over.
I got married right after law school, and later my wife gave birth to our son James. I love both with all my heart.
The start of our marriage was not an easy one. A few months after our wedding, my father passed away unexpectedly at the age of 70. Getting that phone call was one of the hardest things I have ever gone through in my life. But it made me a better person, a better lawyer, a better husband and a better father to my son.
It was not until I had my own family, I realized how important this job could be. Since then, I have become an even better lawyer and an advocate for my clients.
We do things differently. We are paperless, in the cloud and efficient. We are not the cheapest lawyers in town. But we offer high-end service in a way that makes sense. Our approach is newer, different and better. I am a proud business owner and a proud father. I am a husband and a father of two. I have been to all the places you are now and will be. Those common experiences are what bond me with my clients.
I am a certified member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, an honorary society established in 1982 by the Supreme Court of Texas. This College is comprised of lawyers who strive for the highest level of legal knowledge and skills through frequent participation in continuing education. Among its ranks are numerous leaders in the Texas legal field, including many judges. Less than 10% of all Texas lawyers qualify to become members of this organization.
Throughout my legal career, I have represented numerous family law clients in divorce, custody and property disputes. I am a dedicated advocate and have represented clients in all phases of litigation.
I advise clients on all aspects of family law, divorce, adoption, paternity and mediation issues. I have experience in drafting marital property agreements, including pre- and post-nuptial agreements.
My staff of attorneys and paralegals and I have devoted our careers to handling complex family law matters and defending families from false CPS allegations.
We are based in Houston, as well as The Woodlands, Conroe, Kingwood, Atascocita, Montgomery, Galveston, Fort Bend, Waller, Liberty, Chambers and Brazoria County areas. I am a member of the Houston Family Law Sector of the Houston Bar Association and am active in family law organizations in Texas.
