Transportation in The Woodlands
Moving to the Houston, TX area after a divorce is something that has become
increasingly common. Houston is a great area to call home under any circumstances
but there are some especially appealing reasons for those of you who have
just gone through a divorce. One of the most popular areas of the Houston
metropolitan region is The Woodlands. As with any area in Texas, it is
crucial to learn more about how to travel around The Woodlands before
you move here.
The Woodlands is a master planned township just north of Houston in Montgomery
County. Home to a number of major corporations such as Hewlett Packard,
Exxon-Mobil and more, The Woodlands draws thousands of new residents each
year due to their superb schools, terrific neighborhoods, tree-covered
streets and a number of dining and entertainment options.
Interstate 45 is the most common way to travel north and south from The
Woodlands. Conroe and Huntsville are the largest towns north of The Woodlands
while Houston is a short drive to the south. Houston is so close to The
Woodlands that many people choose to live in The Woodlands and then work
in Houston- or vice versa. As with any interstate traffic can be an issue
at peak hours. However, there are many alternatives when it comes to travelling
to and from Houston when you live and work in The Woodlands.
For one, the Hardy Toll Road is a short drive south of The Woodlands and
can be used to access points south all the way until you reach downtown
Houston. Exits off Interstate 45 make travelling into the city for business
or pleasure simpler. The Grand Parkway and the Sam Houston Tollway/Beltway
8 are convenient for those of who have a TX Tag or EZ Tag. If you are
not familiar with these toll passes, I would encourage you to visit the
Harris County Toll Road Authority to learn more.
In terms of travelling east and west in The Woodlands, FM 1488 is the main
route to travelling to points west of The Woodlands such as Magnolia and
Montgomery. Lake Woodlands Parkway, and Research Forest Drive are two
of the most traversed arterial streets in all of The Woodlands. It would
be well worth the effort to drive each of these streets when visiting
to learn the town and how it travels during different times of the day.
